Greek Orthodoxy in Northampton

The Greek Orthodox community of Northampton dates back to the late 1960s . The first Greek Orthodox services in the town were held at All Saints Church next to the market square in 1968 and then moved to St. Peter’s in Mare Fare around 1973.

In 1998 the Greek Orthodox community of Northampton bought St Crispin’s chapel and renamed it the Orthodox church of St. Neophytos the Recluse (after a Christian Saint of Cyprus). The building houses original murals painted by local artist Henry Bird. A detailed description of each mural is given in this booklet.

The church is a grade II listed building , No. 431359.
